Know Darin
Born and raised in Alberta, Darin is a true rig hand — forged in the cold, hard grit of the Canadian oil patch. With decades of experience working rigs across Canada and around the world, he’s seen it all: the good, the bad, and the downright ugly.
From frozen mornings in northern Alberta to scorching desert shifts overseas, Darin’s stories are as raw and real as they come. He’s lived the highs of big money and wild times, and the lows that’ll humble any man.
No fluff, no filters — just the straight goods from a guy who’s been in the thick of it his whole life. If you want to know what the rig life really looks like, Darin’s the one to tell you.
Ya'll better believe the yarn i'm spinnin' cuz im as old as the hills and twice as dusty. And if you don't like it, well fuck you and the horse you rode in on. So if the bull gear doesn't jump the heifer shaft anytime soon... we'll catch you again. Stay on the right side of the dirt until then.

You spend enough time on the rig, you get a nose for trouble. And you see enough of it that you learn to react, not just stare. So, when I saw some hotrod blow past me on the highway like I was standing still, I just figured, "Well, there goes another one in a hurry to meet his maker." Turns out, I wasn't far off.
A few minutes later, I pull up to a bunch of smoke and see a flipped vehicle in the ditch That same damn car, wrapped around a guardrail, spitting flames. Now, most folks would rubberneck, maybe call 911. Me? I just stopped. Didn't even think twice. That rig was cookin', smoke pourin' out, and I could tell there was still someone in there. Walked right up, yanked the door open, and pulled the fella out. He was dazed, probably didn't even know what happened. Got him clear, then the whole damn thing went up like a Roman candle. Just another day, I guess. You see enough ugly out on the patch, a burning car ain't gonna make you flinch.
